What broadband speed do I need to use Hosted PBX?
A minimum of 384 Kbps in both directions (upload and download) is required to support the first two calls. Additional bandwidth is required for additional calls.
Can I use my existing broadband connection?
Yes, provided it meets the minimum speeds for both upload and download. Also, Quality of Service (QoS) is available only with Layer Four broadband.
How clear will my calls be?
Your voice calls will sound as clear as traditional analog calls. Layer Four focuses on call quality and prioritizes voice over data throughout our network to give you the best possible call, every time.
What happens to my voice calls if my connectivity is interrupted?
If connectivity is interrupted, you will be unable to use your IP Phone. You can, however, reroute incoming calls to an alternate phone through the Web control panel or by calling us.
What are the benefits of switching to Layer Four Hosted PBX?
With Layer Four you do not need to purchase, lease, or maintain a PBX. Customers also save money with unlimited calling. Moving, adding, and changing employee extensions can be accomplished with a single call to Layer Four. Also, Hosted PBX has many advanced features that improve overall productivity—such as Remote Office, Find Me / Follow Me, and Voicemail as Email. These features are not available with traditional phone service.
After I receive my phones, how do I get them to work?
After receiving your preconfigured phones simply plug them in. You will want to make sure you plug in the power cord to the wall and your other cord into the Internet. You will see a LAN port on the back of your phone. Plug the opposite end of the cord that you have plugged into the Internet into this port. You should see your phone power on. Simply wait for your phone to register with our system and you will then be able to make and receive phones calls.
